Master’s in Samskrit – Admission process for those residing outside India

Here are all the steps for admission into the Master’s program in Samskrit by MIT SVS and HUA. Skip ahead to the step that applies to you.

  1. Fill the pre-registration form
  2. Formally apply as follows:
    • For Masters’ Certificate (level 1) in Samskrit, fill out the SVS Online Certificate Courses form.
      • Select “Samskrit-1” in the “Course you wish to apply for”.
      • Fee is USD 3,600 per level (year), payable in two equal installments when offered admission.
  3. Register for the entrance test – Samskrit Language Proficiency (SLP):
  4. Optionally, enroll in the Samskrit-1 course of MIT SVS to help prepare for the SLP test.
  5. Take the SLP test (by May 31)
  6. When notified that you have passed the test and offered admission, pay the annual fee within a week of receipt of the offer (by June 1)
    • Pay retainer fee hereUSD 450 to HUA (fund@hua.edu) for admission confirmation via Zelle transfer (US inter-bank transfer). A processing fee of 3% will be charged.
    • Email fund@hua.edu if neither of the above options work. HUA will send you an invoice with an online ACH payment link.
  7. By June 1, pay the remainder of semester-1’s fee of USD 1350:

  • Start date to apply for admission: Jan 15
  • Last date to apply for admission: June 1
  • Entrance test opens: Jan 20
  • Preparatory Samskrit course for entrance Test: Jan 31 – May 15
  • Entrance test closes: May 31
  • Offer of admission: Feb 1 – June 1
  • Last date for payment of fee: June 1
  • Commencement of classes: July 1

Program Details

Masters’ Certificate in Sanskrit

  • MIT-ADT University application form
  • The course work and assessment model is identical for both the programs, joining the MA degree program requires adherence to additional University terms and conditions
  • If meeting one or more of the above conditions pertaining to MA degree program is difficult for you, we’d recommend you take the certificate program option, which waives the campus visit requirement. If you are not keen on a University degree but are studying out of passion, this is an attractive and convenient option.
  • This model is highly recommended for those residing outside India.

Entrance criteria for both programs – Sanskrit Language Proficiency Test (SLP)

  • There is a free preview available for your self-assessment at https://vedavaapi.moodlecloud.com/. Please access the preview test immediately by logging into this site with username ‘vvsampler‘ and password ‘atithiH‘. After logging in, click on the course named “Sanskrit Proficiency Test – Preview” and launch the quiz. This quiz offers a few samples of all the question types to expect in the real test.

Admissions offers will be made on first-come-first-served basis upon completion of SLP test (ongoing from Jan 20 – May 31)
