Introduction

Ayurveda, the ancient science of medicine in the vedic tradtion, is focused on both avoiding diseases and treating them. Today, there is a great renewed interest in following the treatments prescribed in Ayurveda, both in India and world-wide.
Ashtangahridayam (“The Heart of Eight limbs of Ayurveda”) text by Sri. Vagbhata is much acclaimed in the world of Ayurveda, alongside the works (“Samhita”) of Sri. Sushruta and Sri. Charaka.
This course is just a small window to but one of the hundred and twenty chapters of the magnum opus of Vagbhata. We review each of the 48 verses of the Dinacharya chapter (“Daily Routines”) in this two session course, understanding the core teachings (“tatparya”) in each of these verses. Many precious generic adages (“Subhashitam”) are also embedded by the author within this chapter, which have a much larger application beyond even the basic daily chores related to a healthy life, that are the main focus of this chapter.
