• Eligibility: Knowledge of Simple Spoken Samskrit and Devanagari (Hindi) script
Introduction
Mathematics is an integral part of Vedic Sciences. Shulbasutras contain the geometric concepts and formulas used for the construction of alters used in Vedic Yagyas. The sutras offer formulas for constructing and transforming geometrical shapes leading to the design of complex structures.
This course is an introduction to the Shulbasutra, along with understanding of some of the fundamental sutras offered by Rishi Apastamba.
Target audience
• Anyone who can understand simple spoken Samskrit and read Devanagari script
Expected outcomes
• Knowledge of what shulbasutra is and it’s application.
• Understand the structure of Apastamba shulbasutram
• Understanding some of the basic Apastamba shulbasutras
• Understanding of stepwise construction of an alter used in Vedic Yagyas.
• Understanding of common fire alters used in Vedic Yagyas.
