On the occasion of the 75th Independence day, Vishnugupta Vishwavidyapeetham, Gokarna, established by Ramachandrapura Matha, with the guidance and blessings of Mathadhipati Srimad Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Mahaswamiji, hosted a talk by MIT SVS Dean Sri Sai Susarla.
The talk was titled Science + Shaastra: Back to the Future. This talk was part of a series of talks titled Jnana Vijnana Chintana Satra, and it was the 6th talk of the series. These talks are focussed on the theme of “Harnessing Tradition for Sustainable Innovation”.
Our Dean Sai Mahodaya dwelt at length on why he moved to the field of Shaastras from being a person entrenched in mainstream technology domain for a significant part of his life. He says that he moved to the area of Shaastras not because he disliked technology but because he “saw a huge opportunity for innovation beyond celebrating the past but the making of the future”.
He dwelt on the commonalities and differences between Science and Shaastra and the possibilities of blending the two for sustainable innovation.
