MIT-ADT University‘s School of Vedic Sciences (MITSVS) in partnership with Vedavaapi Foundation (Vedavaapi) announces a unique Training Program for Shaastra scholars called Shaastric Modeling, on how to harness Shaastric knowledge and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to enhance contemporary knowledge areas like Sciences and Humanities.
Several leading Sanskrit institutions are participating in this historic workshop –
- Central Sanskrit University, Ganganath Jha campus, Prayagraj,
- Kavikulaguru Kalidasa Sanskrit University, Ramtek, Nagpur, and
- Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru.
This workshop will serve as a Faculty Development Program that opens an opportunity for career advancement via introducing novel teaching methods for non-traditional learners of shaastras. It is also a prerequisite to participate in upcoming innovative projects that use Information Technology to present Shaastras intuitively to modern audience and to apply shaastric insights for contemporary issues.
Overview
This workshop offers training on how to approach Bharatiya shaastras to extract key universal concepts from their original contextual presentation so as to reinterpret them for modern needs. It inculcates shaastric thinking which is a step beyond shaastra learning. It imparts the following new skills to spur innovative shaastra-based contributions to the world’s knowledge. The aspects covered in this program are:
- Shaastra Mapping – pictorially representing a shaastra grantha’s discourse
- Shaastra Mining – answering complex questions on a shaastra authentically.
- Shaastric Modeling – applying shaastric thinking to bring a fresh perspective to modern knowledge.
Expected Outcome
After attending this program, the participant will be able to
- Paraphrase (samanvaya) a flat shaastra text into a queryable concept map
- Use a concept map to answer complex questions on shaastra content
- Present the summary of a knowledge area using concept mapping
- Create the ontology of a contemporary knowledge discipline based on Shaastric principles
With these skills, the participant will become eligible to participate in Applied Shaastra projects at various institutions guided by MITSVS and Vedavaapi Foundation.
