Introduction

Intuition is the ability to know things beyond the normal range of human senses and mind. It is actually the very foundation Indian civilization – the Vedas were not written by human thought, but were seen by the Rishis with their intuitive capacity. Indic shastras like Ayurveda and Jyotisha too contain stunningly accurately and minute details of human anatomy, astronomy and other natural phenomena, which were accessed by the Rishis using their inner vision. What is the nature of this ability? Can it be developed by us in a scientific manner, and if so, how? These questions will be explored in the context of Indian shastras, mainly the Sankhya and Yoga darshanas.
