It is widely known that many of the world’s languages have directly or indirectly evolved from Samskrit, the ancient (yet modern) language of India. This book beautifully captures the ancient and modern travel of words from India to England. It features the travel of words in Samskrit through major Indo-European languages. For instance, it is interesting to note the Samskrit “pitru”, Latin “pater”, Spanish “padre” and English “father”. Similar is the case of the numbers two (Samskrit – dwi), three (Samskrit – tri) and five (Samskrit – panch).
